Local Kids Learn About Prairie Life at Make Room Camp
A group of Fargo–Moorhead kids are learning about life on the prairie.
The camp teaches kids old-timey games like dropping a clothes pin into a glass jar as well as how to weave twine and make soaps from scratch.
The owner of Make Room says it important for kids to get in touch with their prairie ancestry to learn how people lived just a few generations ago.
“So I decided to kind of just bring it back to the roots for this session. I’m kind of introducing kids to the idea that people didn’t used to just make things for fun, it was out of necessity but they also had fun while doing it,” says Make Room Owner Chelsea Thorson.
The camp runs until the end of the week.
