Grand Forks Courthouse Clear After Evacuation

The Grand Forks County Courthouse was evacuated after a suspicious package was found.

Grand Forks Police tell KVRR Local News that the evacuation is a precautionary measure.

The item was inspected and is not considered a threat.

The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s department confirmed to KVRR that a backpack was found outside the southside of the courthouse.

They believe it was dropped by a homeless person.

The bomb squad x-rayed the package and determined it was harmless.

Workers were kept a safe distance from the building until the inspection was complete.

Streets near the courthouse have been reopened to traffic.
