New Lakeland City Hall Destroyed by Fire

An overnight fire destroyed what was built of the new city hall in Lakeland, Minnesota.

The fire started around 11:30 p.m. and when firefighters arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames.

The city hall has been a contentious issue in the small Washington County town.

Lakeland mayor elect, Dick Glasgow vowed to stop construction of the city hall as soon as possible.

Mayor Amy Williams said arson investigators are checking out the scene.
