Holiday Lights Parade Brings Cheer to the Community

The big community event of the night was without a doubt was the Holiday Lights Parade.

It took a while for the crowds to really gather and while people were waiting in anticipation they were thinking about previous years.

“It was a lot of fun it really puts us into the Christmas spirit and it’s a lot warmer this year than it was last year so we’re looking forward to that,” says parade-goer, Maggie.

“We love the lights, we love Christmas lights. We go around every year and look at them ourselves like we’re little kids,” says parade-goer, Jessica Bach.

For many here, the parade officially gets the holiday season started.

“This is really like our kick off to Christmas. Yeah Thanksgiving’s like that for most people but the parade on Tuesday! The lights have started, plug them in, let’s roll,” says parade-goer, Jessica Rask.

“We always like the ones with a lot of lights,” says Maggie.

For many the lights are what it’s all about, but others love the community aspect.

“The music and the people. The community in general… The lights,”says Parade-Goer, Taylor.

I know I’m not supposed to be biased but I have to give a shout out to my favorite float, the KVRR car… and everyone here has their own favorite.

“Last year we saw the float Mr. Grinch,” says Maggie’s daughter.

“One of the banks has like a snow bank that’s always lit up really good and there was a really good Grinch one last year,” says Jessica Rask.

Here’s to starting off the holidays strong, even though the rain may have scared a few people away there was still a great turn out.
