Longfellow Elementary First Graders Recreate First Thanksgiving
Some first grade kids celebrated Thanksgiving a little early.
Students at Longfellow Elementary recreated the first Thanksgiving meal.
The students made Pilgrim outfits and turkey headbands and then wore them to the feast.
Each class was assigned different types of food to bring in and then they shared it with each other, just like the Native Americans and Pilgrims did at the first Thanksgiving.
“They think it’s a blast…anything fun,” said teacher Sally Hamilton. “They have their little pilgrim costumes and hats and aprons and we invited parents in so they get to share with them too.”
The Thanksgiving feast is part of their Social Studies class.
