Senator John Hoeven Speaks Out on DAPL Protests
Senator John Hoeven says that he doesn’t mind protesting, just as long as it’s peaceful.
He has called on the Obama administration to authorize additional law enforcement resources in Morton County and also authorize the Corps to issue the necessary easement for the pipeline without further delay.
Hoeven also says that if the protests get out of hand, then authorities have the right to use their tactics.
“We need help in terms of law enforcement to protect people and keep people safe and the administration needs to quit holding up that easement,” said Sen. Hoeven. “Let the court issue the easement. Let’s get this done, get it resolved.”
Senator Heitkamp said many of the actions we have seen over the past several weeks are not those of lawful protesters.
She is hopeful that there can be a peaceful resolution.
