Grant County Man Arrested After Pursuit, Attempted Kidnapping

A Grant County, Minnesota man is in jail following a police pursuit and attempted kidnapping in Otter Tail County early Sunday morning.

Authorities say 32-year-old Jason Morimoto cut off his wife’s car on I-94 near Fergus Falls and tried to force her into his vehicle.

She was able to escape on foot just as officers arrived on scene.

Morimoto took off at a high rate of speed but the pursuit was called off due to his reckless driving and the weather conditions.

He later fled a Traverse County deputy and his vehicle became stuck in a field.

Morimoto then walked to a nearby house and asked for a ride to the Sanford Wheaton Medical center for treatment of frostbite.

That’s where deputies arrested him.
