Helping the Homeless Stay Healthy
A seminar was held to improve healthy lifestyles for those who are homeless
FARGO, N.D. — We’re in the midst of flu season and health experts say this is the most crucial time to keep homeless people in mind.
Health Impacts of Homelessness was held at Fargo Cass Public Health to talk about ways to help homeless people stay healthy.
A number of agencies presented ways to help the less fortunate in the community.
Topics included emergency health issues, substance abuse and mental illness.
“Homelessness and having a home is integral to health and well-being,” said Lois Ustanko, who is the Director of Health Ministries with Sanford Health. “It’s just basic mass of hierarchy when we don’t have a home it’s very difficult to manage our health.”
Fargo Cass Public Health offers a variety of health programs such as ‘Let’s Eat Healthy’, ‘Metro in Motion’ and ‘Reproductive Health’.
