FARGO, ND — Now that school is out for summer, people are planning their summer schedules.

Some local kids are taking the opportunity to step outside their normal routines and give a helping hand.

Bethany Retirement Living has a volunteer program for kids eleven years and older to assist with daily tasks.

From playing bingo to watering the plants and even doing arts and crafts projects, these elders have some new friends and some more help.

“They love it. The big smiles on their faces,” said Community Life Director Laurie Schnabel. “They get attached to the kids and the kids get attached to them just as well. It’s so good between the both of them. It’s a lot of fun.”

Registration is now open and the schedule for volunteering is flexible.
