Midco is Bringing Wi-Fi to Downtown Fargo…P.S. It’s Free!

In nine to ten weeks, people will be able to access the public Wi–Fi on Broadway and some of the side streets

FARGO, ND — Trying to upload a new photo or access social media apps will no longer be a problem in downtown Fargo.

On Monday night, city leaders agreed to new rules allowing Midco to set up free Wi–Fi downtown.

In nearly 10 weeks, people will be able to access the public Wi–Fi on Broadway and some of the side streets.

The project will cost around $200,000 to set up.

Midco officials said this is an amenity many downtowns have and they are excited to bring it to Fargo.

“People expect to be on their devices and have that technology work,” said Justin Forde, who is the director of public affairs at Midco. “When we have all of these large crowds at these great events downtown, people want to be able to share those photos and videos with those friends and we want to be able to provide that service not only for all of our tens of thousands of Midco customers in Fargo, but for folks from across the region.”

Forde said that once they see the success of the original spots, they may expand the Wi–Fi to other parts of downtown Fargo.
