Salvation Army Working to Keep Kids Warm this Winter

Organizers say they are planning to serve about 500 families by the end of the winter gear distribution

MOORHEAD, Minn.– With winter just around the corner, the Salvation Army is distributing winter gear to keep everyone warm.

The annual Coats for Kids and Families distribution is happening through Thursday at the Salvation Army Activity Center in Moorhead.

Qualifying families can also register for a free Thanksgiving food box.

Organizers say they are planning to serve about 500 families by the end of the winter gear distribution.

“With being able to get people their warm coats, I know for a fact that they won’t be cold, or freeze or cold in the winter time with that coat we give them and it makes me feel good,” said Major Byron Medlock. “I don’t have to worry about people at night when I know that we’ve done our best to take care of their needs.”

If you are interested in donating items, organizers say their biggest need is children’s coats.
