NDSU Faced With Urgency To Fill Chris Klieman’s Role

The Bison are hoping to get a new football coach sooner, rather than later.

The minute Chris Klieman got a job with Kansas State last night, North Dakota State began the search for a new football coach.

There is an early signing period December 19th for high school student- athletes to commit to NDSU, so there’s a sense of urgency in trying to get that role filled in the next eight days.

Otherwise, it could leave the Bison shorthanded when it comes to recruiting.

Bison Athletics Director Matt Larsen says an applicant’s ties to NDSU will also play a factor in the hiring process.

“It’s unique here, in a lot of really good ways and a lot of really unique ways,” Larsen said. “So, I think for somebody who doesn’t understand what North Dakota State is about and our fanbase and Fargo and North Dakota, I think it’s tough. Is it impossible? No, but I certainly think it’s a little more difficult.”
