Homeward Animal Shelter Explains Benefits of Fixing Your Pet

The shelter says spaying and neutering your pet provides a lot of health benefits and can act as preventative care

FARGO, N.D. – One animal shelter in the area is sharing the benefits for fixing your furry friend.

Homeward Animal Shelter says spaying and neutering your pet provides a lot of health benefits and can act as preventative care.

Fixing your pet can prevent cancers like uterine, ovarian, and prostate.

Homeward has over 90 animals in their care and says the majority of them are cats.

“There are just so many more cats than there are homes for them,” Homeward Animal Shelter marketing director Heather Klefstad said. “We tend to see so many more cats that need to be rescued from the local pound and other rescue situations that we have here in our care so the need for them is just that much greater.”

Homeward is working to prevent overpopulation with the help of spaying and neutering procedures.

Animals over six months old at Homeward are fixed prior to adoption.
