American Heart Association Joins KVRR As Part of Week-long Stroke Prevention Effort

 

The American Heart Association says up to 80 percent of strokes can be prevented.

Chrissy Meyer from the American Heart Association says you can make small changes in your life which can make a big difference in your stroke risk.

The top ways to lower your stroke risk are:

Don’t smoke

Manage your blood pressure

Be physically active

Eat a healthy diet

Maintain a healthy weight

Control cholerterol

Control blood sugar

Meyer says it’s easy to make one small change at a time, until it ads up to a big change in your stroke risk.
