White Earth Nation Creates Tribal Gaming Commission

WHITE EARTH NATION – The White Earth Reservation Business Committee unanimously approves a new gaming ordinance.

It makes the Tribal Gaming Commission separate from tribal government.

The group’s goal is to regulate licensed gaming operations within the tribe.

The commission will have five members appointed by the Tribal Council.

White Earth Secretary Treasurer Alan Roy says it will provide a check and balance system. He says since the tribe currently has authority over gaming, “Commissioners that report to themselves is problematic.”

Those who are interested must hold a valid gaming license and pass a background check. Call White Earth’s Human Resources Department at 218-983-3285 for more information.
