Cass County School Resource Deputy to be awarded regional Exceptional Service Award

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A Cass County School Resource Deputy has received the honor of the regional Exceptional Service Award for his service.

Joseph Koerber has been stationed at Kindred Public Schools for the last six years.

In his time working for the school, he has been a person many students have looked up to.

With names like Officer Jay-Jay to Officer Jo-Jo Siwa

But for the deputy himself, he was surprised to have received this award, and believes others could have taken it instead.

“Here I am, eleven years later in my law enforcement career, and I’m wiping boogers off kids’ faces and different things like that. And so it’s one that you don’t exactly expect going into it, when you’re going through the process of becoming a law enforcement officer, but there’s no greater feeling than being in the schools,” said Koerber.

He will receive the award at the National School Safety Conference in Reno, Nevada on June 29.
