Collin Peterson Appoints Moorhead High School Senior to West Point
Kai is a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club.
MOORHEAD, Minn.–A Moorhead High School senior has been appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York.
Congressman Collin Peterson nominated Kai Holm after he completed a lengthy application followed by an interview.
Peterson announced the news to Holm and his parents in a phone call. Peterson said, ““I want to congratulate Kai and his family on this honor. I am proud to have such an outstanding young man representing the Seventh District at West Point.”
Kai is a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club. He participates in hockey, trap shooting and baseball. Kai has volunteered with community sandbagging, youth hockey clinics, tutoring and the Feed My Starving Children mobile packing event.
Each year, members of Congress can nominate candidates to four of the nation’s U.S. service academies where the graduates are commissioned as officers and will serve in the active or reserve military for a minimum of five years.
