Moorhead Police release video of traffic stop with MPD and Black Lives Matter member

MOORHEAD, MN –Faith Shields-Dixon was on her way home on Saturday evening when she was stopped by police by the corner of 8th St. and 12th Ave. S in Moorhead.

Police told Shields-Dixon they pulled her over for a going 44 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone.

Shields-Dixon claims they did not handle the traffic stop appropriately.

Moorhead Police Chief Shannon Moore released the following statement:

We have received a number of media inquiries in relation to a traffic stop that occurred on Saturday, August 15, 2020 in Moorhead that has been posted on social media sites. 

We have received a complaint and are in the early stages of examining the data available. 

In this case, since it is a traffic violation only with no other criminal investigation on-going, and the allegations in the complaint against the Moorhead Police Department relate to our relationship with our community we are releasing the videos from the traffic stop for public viewing.
