Person of interest identified in vandalism of Jesus statue

FARGO (KVRR) – Fargo police may be getting closer to solving a vandalism investigation at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

“We have identified a person of interest and continue to actively investigate the case” according to Public Information Officer Jessica Schindeldecker.

The face of the white marble statue of Jesus was spray-painted black in the early morning hours of April 17 at 604 Broadway.  The statue is located in front of the Cathedral.

Surveillance video shows one person walking up to the statue, spray painting the face and then running away.

Schindeldecker says so far, no arrests have been made.
