Fire damages Moorhead home

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Three fire departments respond to a two alarm fire in north Moorhead.

The fire broke out at this house just before 2:00 Thursday afternoon.

Dilworth and Fargo Fire departments responded alongside Moorhead firefighters who determined the fire began in the garage and extended into the rest of the house.

Two people living there were able to make it out safely, unfortunately one of their three cats died from smoke inhalation.

“Anytime that we have a structure fire to this magnitude the amount of smoke causes the need to relocate. We don’t want any individuals breathing any of that smoke and just making sure that it’s safe for them both structurally and with the hazards of having smoke,” Moorhead Fire Department Battalion Chief Kayla Cross said.

There is no estimated damage at this time as the cause remains under investigation.
