LIVE: The Drive to Help Kids Without Homes

WEST FARGO — Do you have the drive to do what it takes to help homeless kids here in the metro?

If you don’t, we know someone who’s got drive to share.

The local nonprofit Golden Drive for Homeless Kids is wrapping up their most recent donation drive.

Sue Baron is its tireless founder.

They’ll distribute the goods on Friday afternoon.

Their volunteers say the donation boxes at the West Fargo Rural Fire Department are already overflowing.

And they’re looking for you to give more new toys, toiletries and more before the schools and shelters come to pick up the donations.

It’s all part of their Fill the Fire Boot event Friday.

They’ll also announce the winner of the “Sock Trophy” to the law enforcement folks who raised the most for the kids.

They’ve already given out 16 thousand pairs of socks, with thousands more left to give.

If you want to drop off donations, there are permanent year-round boxes at the West Fargo Police Department and at the West Fargo Rural Fire Department.

Golden Drive’s Baron stopped by the studio to talk about Friday’s big distribution event and what keeps her going through all the hard work of drumming up support for the area’s homeless kids.
