Demolition of Former Herberger’s at Moorhead Center Mall Begins

MOORHEAD, Minn., (KVRR)- The future of Downtown Moorhead starts now with the demolition of Moorhead Center Mall. Crews are working on tearing down sections of the mall including the former Herberger’s location on the west side.

That store opened in the mall in 1983 and was an anchor store until closing in 2018. The large parking ramp on that end will remain.

The redevelopment of this site to include living, retail and entertainment spaces is just one part of the Downtown Moorhead Master Plan.

The city wants to revitalize the Center Avenue area and create a destination of retail, restaurants, connections to the river, and social experiences.

Moorhead Center Mall says the following remain open for business:

Moorhead Drug Co.
Puffes Fine Jewelry
Clay County Department of Motor Vehicles
Downtown Chiropractic
Moorhead Vision Associates
His Salon
Sharon’s Hair & Massage
