Three People Help Rescue Couple From Burning House Near Pelican Rapids

OTTER TAIL CO., Minn. (KVRR) — Three people passing by a house on fire just north of Pelican Rapids help a couple escape the flames.

The fire was reported just before noon at the Dennis and Rebecca Campbell residence.

Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says the couple smelled something electrical burning from a room behind them.

74-year-old Dennis Campbell was unable to escape on his own.

But three people passing by stopped and helped the couple get out of the house.

Both Dennis and Rebecca had minor smoke inhalation and were taken to the hospital in Detroit Lakes.

The fire is under investigation by the state Fire Marshal.

The house was a total loss.
