LUTSEN, Minn. (KVRR) — With rumors about lawsuits, unpaid taxes and failed fire inspections after fire destroyed the Lutsen Resort Lodge on Minnesota’s North Shore, the owner is speaking out.

Bryce Campbell issued a lengthy statement on Facebook asking people to “stop”.

He says “The damage that has been done is going beyond a building.”

Campbell writes that the tragic loss has become a source of enjoyment for gossipers.

He issued some facts including about the suspicion over zero guests on the night of the fire.

Campbell says the winter has been extremely slow with no snow and they’ve had around a dozen zero occupancy days this winter.

He says they have not been served any lawsuits by cabin owners who claim he owes them money.

He also says they are not filing for bankruptcy and do plan to rebuild.

The State Fire Marshal says the last inspection at Lutsen Resort Lodge took place last July.

They found seven violations, four of which the property owner repaired.

They say it is too early to determine if the outstanding violations played a role in the fire.

Minnesota Department of Public Safety says it is still too early to determine how the fire started.
