Gov. Burgum Visits Jamestown-Based Guard Members Along U.S.-Mexico Border

(KVRR) — Gov. Doug Burgum on Friday visited soldiers from the Jamestown-based 817th Engineer Company at the U.S.-Mexico border.
He was there to thank them for supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection efforts to secure the border.
Burgum was joined by Maj. Gen. Alan Dohrmann, adjutant general of the North Dakota National Guard.
The 817th deployed in early November for what’s expected to be a yearlong mission.
Around 125 members are providing detection and monitoring support.
Burgum says they’re helping to protect our country, state and communities and save lives from illegal activity including drug and human trafficking.
Due to security concerns, the military requested the exact location of the 817th not be publicized.
