LIVE: Potluck and Poetry

FARGO — It’s food for thought.

International Potluck is serving up delicious food with a side of poetry this time around.

The 8-year-old organization formed to bring people together across cultures to share a dish from someone’s family background and learn about its roots, its preparation, and its role in our neighbors’ lives is trying something different this time around.

They’re combining the food and fellowship with a Global Open Mic night of poetry.

Habiba Elbassiouny is a published poet who’s also studying architecture at NDSU.

She’s going to be performing her poetry at the open mic night, and sat down with the International Potluck’s Peter Schott and Emily to talk about why poetry, as well as food, can also help us dig deeper into the important issues of the day, and form bonds that turn strangers into friends.
