Belcourt Man Gets Life For Deadly 2023 Bar Shooting in Sheyenne, N.D.
EDDY CO., N.D. (KVRR) — Nicholas Poitra of Belcourt, North Dakota is sentenced to life with the possibility of parole for shooting and killing a man in a bar last year.
Poitra was sentenced Wednesday in Eddy County on a long list of charges including murder and terrorizing.
30-year-old Troyal Thumb was shot and killed inside Rindy’s Sheyenne Bar after the acquaintances had an argument in February 2023.
Poitra went on the run but was found three days later by a farmer in Eddy County and held at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.
He changed his pleas to guilty to all charges back in February.
