LIVE: Honor Flight Fundraiser

FARGO — It’s the trip of a lifetime for many veterans in our region.

And you can help make it happen for those still on the wait list whose time here among us is running low.

This summer, Honor Flight organizers are raising money to send them to Washington, D.C. to see the monuments in their honor, with an event they’re calling “Summer Blast.”

It’ll happen over three days in late July, at the Legion in Moorhead.

It’ll also feature one of the moving Vietnam Veterans Monument moving walls that replicates the original Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., three of which tour the country regularly.

This year’s fall Honor Flight is in late September.

Some of the veterans waiting on the list to go fought in World War Two, and are in their nineties.

Organizer Lori Ishaug and Legion manager Scott Moen sat down for a live interview about why this year’s Summer Blast is stretching over three days, what it’s like to be there on the Flight and at the monuments in D.C. with the veterans, and why time is of the essence for so many on the waiting list.
