LIVE: The Perfect Spot for Spot
FARGO — It’s kind of like Air Bnb, but for dogs: a way to give your family some more room to roam, or maybe just a chance to make a little cash on the side.
And now there are spots — or Sniffspots — open right here in our region for you and your canine family members.
Sniffspot is a way for dog owners to get their dogs some running and exploring time on a property that’s fenced and safe, and isn’t a dog park.
It can be an advantage over public dog parks, in the event that there’s a dog communicable disease going around, or if your pet doesn’t do well around other dogs, or around strange humans.
Hosts are earning up to three thousand dollars a month, according to Sniffspot officials, and the company also provides them with insurance coverage, although the company says they haven’t had any incidents since they opened a few years ago.
Elizabeth Nelson hosts a Sniffspot on several fenced acres in Horace, and she’s had some customers come through who say their dogs enjoy the space, especially because of the farm animals she has there. This is herĀ Sniffspot.
She’s also had a repeat customer, Stephanie Chimezri, who has a dog who’s reactive around other dogs and benefits a lot from a large private space to roam.
Nelson’s also used Sniffspot herself while she’s traveling to dog shows with her dogs.
They came in to the Morning Show, along with Chimezri’s dog Avatar, to talk about the Sniffspot experience and why it’s been good for both dog guests and hosts.
