LIVE: A Decade of Delight in Downtown

FARGO — It’s a big milestone for open-air markets in the metro this morning.

That’s because Folkways is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Red River Market on Saturday.

The market’s come a long way since its first day with a handful of booths in 2015.

This opening weekend, Broadway Square and the surrounding city blocks will include live music, new food vendors among the 70 on hand, fresh produce from local growers, and art and crafts from local makers.

It’s expected to be in the mid-90s, so you’ll want to be prepared to survive the shopping hours with water, hats, and sunscreen.

Folkways’ Simone Wai joined the Morning Show to talk about the market’s growth, about why sustainability and connecting community are so important to Folkways’ mission, and the direction the organization is headed in the years to come.
