Fargo Activist, Faith Dixon, Arrested on Felony Warrant For Misappropriating Money

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Faith Dixon, known to many in the community as an activist involved in Black Lives Matter and other social justice issues, has been arrested and is in the Cass County Jail in Fargo.

Prosecutors say Dixon requested more than $1.5 million and was awarded $350,000 for her non-profit, Faith4Hope.

The grant money was listed to be used to assist in building free comprehensive after-school programs and other non-profits. Several businesses included Be the Light Dance Studio, Revolution Records, P’s & Q’s Etiquette, and Double Barrel BBQ. Faith’s father was registered to Double Barrel BBQ, the others were registered to her brother and to a sister-in-law.

According to Bell Bank records, in March of 2022, money was deposited from the grant to Double Barrel BBQ. But then cash was withdrawn from the account by Charles Dixon, the husband of Faith.

In more than one instance from 2022, withdrawals or deposits were made from the accounts to Dixon. The DPI requested a transaction record, but was able to account for only about $137,000 from the $350,000 total.

Dixon is charged with five counts of felony theft of property. Four of the charges have a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison, the remaining charge carries up to five years in prison.

The lights were off and the office appeared to be abandoned.

We contacted Faith and she has declined to comment. Members of the Faith4Hope board have yet to respond.

The case is being prosecuted by the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General Drew Wrigley declined to comment.

The Dixons will make their initial appearance in Bismarck by Zoom from Cass County tomorrow.
