United Way and Holiday Inn Host First Ever Cheesy for Charity Event

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — United Way and Holiday Inn brought us on a gouda journey with restaurants and vendors highlighting their cheesy dishes.

“People are going from booth to booth to sample different mac and cheese varieties and they’re able to cast their vote for their favorite at the end. And all proceeds go to the United Way of Cass Clay,” said Jae Dewald, Area Director of Sales Holiday Inn/ SNL Hospitality.

Dewald and her team at Holiday Inn have wanted to work with a non-profit to give back to the community.

“United Way supports so many of those individual non-profit organizations that we felt that if our gift back to United Way was in place that it would actually impact so many different non-profit organizations all at one time instead of honing in on just one gift,” said Dewald.

The event has brought together people who enjoy mac and cheese to people who want to help support the event itself.

“I came to this event today because mac and cheese is the best food that’s ever existed. So I came to try all the mac and cheeses that are in town here,” said Kelly Jonson, Attendee.

“My friend Autumn works for the Holiday Inn and she told us about it. I work for Clay County and we love providing support to United Way and I heard it was to support their cause and it was a charity so we wanted to come. And I’m a huge fan of mac and cheese so it was the best combination,” said Victoria Blanchard, Attendee.

Donations made at the event go to United Way that will helps families in poverty

And with it being the first-ever cheesy event, these people have not had enough of this pasta.
