Teen Changes Plea in Deadly Grand Forks Stabbing Case

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — A Grand Forks teen charged with murder changes his plea to guilty.

A change of plea hearing was held this morning for 18-year-old Cazmere Haskins.

He was charged with double A felony murder for the stabbing death of 24-year-old Anfernee Economy of Grand Forks.

It happened during a fight at an apartment complex in the southern part of the city in March.

Economy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Haskins was 17 at the time of the murder but was charged as an adult in Grand Forks County Court.

He claimed he was acting in self-defense.

Sentencing has been set for March 7.
