Sen. Hoeven Thanks Jamestown-Based Guard Members Who Served At Southern Border

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KVRR) — Members of Jamestown-based 817th Engineer Company bring home some major hardware.

North Dakota National Guard members recently ended a one-year deployment to support security missions at the U.S.-Mexico border and were paid a visit by then Gov. Doug Burgum last February.

They were awarded 62 Army commendation medals, 53 achievement medals, 9 military outstanding volunteer service medals and two meritorious service medals.

They also got a big “Thank You” from North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven who stressed the important work of the guard members in keeping the nation secure.

A total of four North Dakota National Guard units have been deployed to the southern border since 2018.
