Fire Damages Kitchen and Dining Hall at University of Jamestown Student Center

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KVRR) — University of Jamestown reports there was a fire in the student center kitchen which firefighters worked to contain in harsh winter conditions over the course of eight hours.
The fire broke out this morning and was quickly contained to the kitchen and dining area.
Offices and the campus bookstore in the building were not affected.
No one was hurt.
Breakfast and other meals will be served at Harold Newman Arena for the next few days.
Jamestown Public Schools is allowing the university to use its kitchens to prepare meals.
Valley City State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead are bringing in additional resources.
The kitchen and dining area could be closed for some time.
In a statement on the university’s website, President Polly Peterson said, “We are incredibly grateful for the local and rural fire departments, police, JPS, and others who have stepped in to help us so quickly. This is a reminder of how special and supportive our community is in moments like these.”
