Two Arrested in West Fargo Following Traffic Stop
The stop led to one of the suspects attempting to flee the scene on foot.
WEST FARGO, N.D. – Two people are in custody after a traffic stop in West Fargo turned into a wild situation that even involved a foot chase.
At approximately 10:34 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, the West Fargo Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 2600 block of Sheyenne Street.
The driver of the vehicle was brought to the back of a squad car for further investigation. While the driver was in the squad car, the female passenger got into the driver’s seat and attempted to flee from law enforcement. Officers pinned the vehicle against a nearby snowbank so the vehicle could not flee. The female driver remained uncooperative, attempted to flee on foot and was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
The driver, Michael Shea Carpenter, a 47-year-old male from Fargo, North Dakota, was arrested for felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
The passenger, Sophia Rose Skoog, a 20-year-old female from Graceville, Minnesota, was arrested for fleeing in a motor vehicle, preventing arrest and an outstanding warrant.
There were no injuries to emergency personnel, suspects or bystanders.
