Armory Opened For People Displaced By Apartment Fire In Wadena, Victim Identified

WADENA, Minn. (KVRR) — Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the person killed in a Sunday night apartment building fire in Wadena, Minnesota as 68-year-old David Henrichs.

Wadena County Sheriff’s Office says no foul play is suspected in Henrichs’ death.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order on Tuesday to activate the Minnesota National Guard to help nine people displaced by the fire.

The armory has been opened to provide shelter due to the frigid weather.

American Red Cross and The Salvation Army are helping those who lost everything in the fire.

Wadena County Human Services as well as several individuals and churches are collecting donations.

People living in an apartment next door to the fire site were allowed back home on Tuesday morning.
