SWAT Called To Thompson, N.D. To Make Arrest of Barricaded Man

THOMPSON, N.D. (KVRR) — Grand Forks Regional SWAT Team is called out to Thompson, North Dakota after a man barricaded himself in an apartment bedroom.

The sheriff’s office was serving an arrest warrant around 10 a.m. on 44-year-old Joseph Rud for violating bond conditions.

After confirming he was home, they knocked down the door and found a gun safe was opened with an empty rifle case and box of shells on top of the safe.

They retreated and called in SWAT, Regional UAS, BOMB and Negotiations teams.

After SWAT arrived, Rud surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

A loaded handgun was found in the home.

Rud now faces additional charges including preventing arrest and felon in possession of a firearm.
