Concordia College Begins Spring Season With An Inaugural Women’s Flag Football League

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Concordia College is kicking the spring season off with an inaugural women’s flag football league.
The league has been launched with the support of the Minnesota Vikings.
The team is providing $140,000 in funding to get it started.
Concordia is among six NCAA institutions included so far.
Teams will compete in a series of jamborees in April before culminating in a championship tournament on April 26 in Eagan, Minnesota.
Concordia’s team will be led by the current assistant coach for women’s soccer, Breanna Nelson.
“They were so excited to be a part of something new and different and also be a part of a sport they’ve all enjoyed throughout their life, but never had an opportunity to play. Or maybe haven’t had an opportunity to play at least since they were really little. So they’re very excited,” said Rachel Bergeson, Director of Athletics at Concordia College.
Practice has just begun for the Concordia team.
The first of the series will be on April 5 at the University of Northwestern St. Paul.
