Fargo Fire Department Will Soon Be Ready To Accept New Applications

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Fire Department is about to open the application process to become a firefighter.

No prior firefighting experience is required to apply.

You must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or GED.

In previous years the department had low numbers of recruits applying.

But this past year numbers shot back up with their change to requiring a high school diploma or a GED to apply.

“Currently we do have a mix of people that do have only a high school diploma and some that do have college requirements. We encourage you, once you’re hired, to seek out your college degree, because in order to get a promotion within the City of Fargo at the fire department you do need to have a college degree, a minimum two-year associate’s degree,” said Dawn Stollenwerk, Asst. Fire Marshal.

You can apply from March 31 until April 11 on the City of Fargo’s website.
