Von Maur Celebrates Grand Opening at West Acres
Crowds turned out in force to see the transformation of the space that had sat vacant since Herberger's went out of business mid-2018.

FARGO, N.D. – “Honestly, it’s the best turnout I’ve seen in maybe my whole career,” said the CEO of Von Maur, Jim von Maur.
That’s saying a lot for a department store chain that was founded in 1872 and boasted 38 locations across the United States.
Then, after a ribbon cutting performed by the next generations of the von Maur family, the massive anchor spot at West Acres Mall became number 39.
“This is a huge investment by the von Maur family, and when you see them doing that in our community, that speaks volumes,” said Mayor Tim Mahoney.
von Maur concurred, saying he was enthused about the economic opportunity in the Fargo area.
“We’ve seen the growth that’s been happening, and all the new, exciting industry that’s been happening,” he explained.
“We’ve seen that it’s a growing, dynamic community – and we wanted to be a part of it.”
Shoppers enjoyed live music, angled for free prizes, and perused the store’s many wares.
