Rescue Launched After Livestream Showed Person Struggling In River, But It Wasn’t Red River

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR/KFGO) — A 911 call from someone watching a livestream of a person appearing to struggle in a river had Moorhead and Fargo Fire Departments responding to the Red River.

A total of three boats launched for the search around 3:30 this afternoon near the Hjemkomst Center but found nothing.

The follow-up investigation determined the individual had entered the Sheyenne River, not the Red River.

The swimmer experienced some difficulty but was able to get out safely without assistance.

Officers contacted those involved and confirmed that everyone is safe.

At this time, no arrests or citations were made.

Moorhead and Fargo Fire Departments responded to a report of two people jumping into the Red River this afternoon.

The call came in at around 3:30.

According to Moorhead Fire Department, a total of three boats launched for the search near the Hjemkomst Center.

First repsonders searched up and down and the river.

The rescue was eventually called off and the boats were removed from the water.

There’s limited information on what happened or if anyone was rescued.
