Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue Holds Adoption Event in West Fargo
The organization, based in Rolette County, trekked in some adorable pups to try and help them find their forever homes.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Several adorable adoptable dogs were hauled into West Fargo this weekend to give them a chance at finding a forever home – and to highlight a shelter doing great work in an underserved area.
Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue is located in Rolette County, up near the Canadian border.
Founder Keith Benning moved to Rolette County about 10 years ago and almost immediately began converting his home into a makeshift shelter.
Since then, Turtle Mountain has managed to help over 8 thousand animals.
On Saturday, they brought in a boatload of adorable dogs for an adoption event in West Fargo.
Benning says it’s key to get the animals out of the shelter and interacting with the public.
“It’s always good for them to get out and see the public,” Benning explained, “not just for adoption rates but for socialization.
A couple of these guys have come straight from rescues where they don’t get as much one on one time. So interactions with people, especially when they’re young and in the developmental stages, are always a really good thing.”
Benning also said that, if you want to get involved but don’t feel like you can adopt, fostering is a great way to go.
Turtle Mountain provides you with food, puppy pads, and other supplies – you just give the animal a safe place to stay for a little while.
