LIVE: Wet and Wild with River Keepers
FARGO — Water you waiting for?
The weather’s just right to start recreation season on the metro’s biggest waterway.
River Keepers is leading group kayak excursions on the Red River starting Wednesday tonight and running through the summer.
Wednesday night’s trip is for a group of 20 to tag along with their seasoned kayakers and the animal experts from the Red River Zoo.
They’ll teach you all about the animals of the Red River corridor and the habitats you can spot them in.
The river is currently calm and manageable for even novice kayakers, and it’s a great way to get comfortable experiencing one of the region’s most underutilized natural attractions.
If you miss tonight’s kayak excursion, there are plenty more coming up.
They include the history of the Red River, trees of the river corridor, even yoga.
All are weather and water-condition dependent, so it’s important to check out River Keepers’ website closer to the event to be aware of scheduling changes.
River Keepers’ Christine Holland and Moorhead Parks and Recreation’s Steve French took us out on the Red to talk about what it’s like for people experiencing its beauty, serenity and charm for the first time.
