Exchange your old, worn flags at Scheels for a new one
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — This marks the first day of the flag exchange at Scheels locations in the region.
Members of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association were at the main Scheels store in Fargo, as well as, Scheels Moorhead.
People brought their worn flags to be exchanged for a brand new one. They could also grab some coffee and muffins.
At noon, the riders got on their bikes and headed to Scheels in Grand Forks to continue the exchange.
From there, they will end the day in Minot and restart the exchange there on Friday before heading to Scheels in Bismarck.
The commander of the CVMA chapter in Grand Forks says it’s good knowing these flags will be properly retired.
John “Top” Waters, CVMA Commander 42-2 Chapter, says, “I also was a garbage man for a long time and I used to find flags in the garbage and I’d pull them out. So being part of this, knowing that the flags that are coming in, that we’re going to retire them the correct way on Saturday is the right thing to do.”
The exchange ends on Saturday with a special flag retirement ceremony at Scheels Home and Hardware in Fargo.
