Correctional officer becomes inmate, accused of smuggling contraband into Grand Forks County Jail

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) –A Grand Forks County Jail correctional officer is accused of smuggling contraband into the jail.
After an interview Monday with Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office and North Dakota BCI, Juan Lopez was arrested for delivery of an electronic device to an inmate, and booked into the jail as an inmate.
After he was arrested, a search of jail cells discovered a cell phone with a charger inside an inmate’s mattress.
Authorities are asking anyone, including inmates, who have further information to contact the sheriff’s office at 701-780-8280.
Grand Forks County Jail was moved under the control of the sheriff in March.
