LIVE: “Darkest Day of Horror” at the Fargo Theatre

FARGO — Are you ready to starting sleeping with the lights on?

Just in time for the longest day of the year, the Fargo Theatre and the hosts of the local podcast “We Watch Shudder” are inviting you to join them for this weekend’s “Darkest Day of Horror” film festival.

It’s the brainchild of podcast hosts Michelle Roller and JD Provorse.

They’ve curated a twelve-hour selection of short independent horror films running this Saturday in downtown.

Saturday is also the summer solstice, which is the day of the year with the most hours of daylight.

The hosts say it’s the perfect time to launch a new indie horror fest for the community.

With the recent successes of the film “Sinners,” and the Oscar-nominated “Get Out” and other similarly praised recent horror releases, horror is having a critical and cultural renaissance right now.

Roller and Provorse joined the Morning Show to talk about what it’s like to put together their very first film fest, why these films represent true passion projects for their filmmakers, and what you need to know if you and your family should attend.
