Wild river arrest after Detroit Lakes man runs from traffic stop and jumps into Ottertail River

FRAZEE, Minn. (KVRR) — A Detroit Lakes man who ran from a traffic stop and field sobriety test in Frazee on Monday runs and jumps into the Ottertail River.
Frazee Police say 28-year-old Cole Franzen spent hours in the river trying to evade law enforcement.
He even buried himself in mud and camouflaged himself with cattail reeds.
Drones and airboats were launched and Franzen eventually made his way to land before running back into the river.
Around 8:55 p.m. deputies made contact with him in the water but he would not cooperate.
Another airboat was brought in and he was taken into custody just before 10 p.m.
Franzen is facing charges of DWI, fleeing, obstruction of justice and a court order violation.
Six different agencies were involved in the incident.
