West Fargo Police Department Helps Free Owl from Soccer Net
The department says that the Red River Zoo was largely responsible for ensuring the bird's safety.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The West Fargo Police Department is giving an update on an owl they had a hand in rescuing from a soccer net.
The owl became entangled in the net at Sheyenne High School on Monday, August 18.
Not knowing what to do, someone on scene called WFPD, who dispatched a community resource officer to the scene.
They called on ND Fish & Game and eventually the Red River Zoo, whose staff were able to cut the owl free.
The West Fargo Police Department says while they were happy to handle this call, future inquiries are best directed towards wildlife experts.
“We have a CSO program, they take care of our vehicle unlocks, they take care of our animal calls – generally cats and dogs, things like that,” explained Sgt. Tyler Williams. “If it is a migratory bird or a wild bird in general, we don’t generally go to those calls.”
The owl was checked for injuries at the zoo before it was determined it was good to go, at which point it was re-released into the wild.
