UPDATE: Crookston Police say online threat made against city, not high school by 17-year-sld suspect

CROOKSTON, Minn. (KVRR: UPDATE 8:15PM) — Crookston Police are providing more details about a threat investigation at Crookston High School that resulted in an increased law enforcement presence at the school on Tuesday.
They say someone got a threat on social media on Monday and didn’t report it until Tuesday.
During their investigation, police identified the suspect as a 17-year-old male who lives out of state and does not have the means to travel to Crookston.
They also say the threat was made against the City of Crookston and not the high school.
Chief Darin Selzler and Superintendent Randy Bruer in separate statements said there is no active danger to students or staff or the public
Police say this remains and active criminal investigation.

Superintendent Randy Bruer in a statement said the report of a threat was resolved and there is no danger to the school.
On Tuesday, there was extra law enforcement at the school.
Bruer said it was out of an abundance of caution.
He says at this time there is no active danger to students or staff and thanked everyone for their patience as the case was investigated.
